Why do LP GT tips get so dirty?

I've got 3 Leon Paul Golubitsky-Pro foils all with GT ultra tips. The tips work really well and they're easy to take apart, but they really seem to require constant cleaning. My old french tips needed to be cleaned once every year or so, these ones start getting those off-target beats after a week or two.The rotating tip is supposed to help self-clean the tip. Does anyone know the reason?

Totally agree. I find Paul points need constant maintenance. I used German point before and while they were a pain when the barrel got dented or the grub screws got destroyed they didn't need the continual cleaning and replacement of screws. Maybe a question for Alex Paul? A new design in the works or is the Next Gen German points the way to go.

Another complaint is about those retaining clips for the bodycords. There really needs to be a better on-foil retaining clip than that. I love how smoothly the prongs fit into the socket and how easy it is to hook up before a bout, but when a foil is rendered useless because of a broken plastic clip, it's quite annoying.

Here's a question for Leon Paul. Is there any way to make a more durable (maybe aluminum) version of the retaining clip? I'm loathe to replace the sockets and 2-prong heads of my foils and bodycords, but if this keeps up, I think I might have to. Within a week, my first foil's clip was completely snapped off, and my second was only half functional.

I haven't had the problems you're having.

I find the tip feels gunked up after 3-4 months without being cleaned. I use a little WD-40 with Q-tips. Good as new in a couple minutes.
