And our salle and fencing master are in it, along with some scenes from an epee competition here. No, we're not the classical bunch.

It's very well produced, with quotes from excellent people from both the sport fencing and "classical" fencing worlds. It's good to show at demos, too.

Whoa, I actually remember fencing that day...
    "Sir, didn't I parry"
"You didn't take advantage of his blade enough, so no."

(I guess i should have romanced it a bit more..."

Are you in the video? I don't remember. I think I'm in it, refereeing.

Im not sure, I haven't seen the video. If I remember correctly, that was the day that we were in a self reffed pool of 5. I was reffing and I said fence when you and your opponent were too close, so you just hit the ground to turn on the light and make sure I fixed it. I knew technically that was a red card, but that would have been a poor choice to throw that card...

Heh. I don't remember that. I'm sure I must really have been trying to hit my opponent.

I received my dvd today. Just glancing, it looks like good value for the money. I am taking it to the club tomorrow. We have community ed, college pe classes and a couple of private schools that do sessions at our club in addition to our regular classes and summer camp and I thought it would be a great introduction to those who have never fenced as well as interesting to those who have.

You both appear briefly and look absolutely wonderful, as usual. Malloy III and Bedor get a lot of airtime at the BCAF Epee competition, with Dirk as ref.

p.s. the DVD is well worth the money - mine had some occasional problems with the sound, but well filmed and edited.

I received my copy today after ordering it late last week. I watched several of the clips. Like others have said, it looks like it will be good for demos or intros, getting people interested in the sport. Perhaps a bit too much on "classical" fencing for my tastes, but that stuff always looks cool and will draw interest from beginners.

A few impressions from the video

I enjoyed the section best on the mind/body aspects in what Maestro Selberg termed "knowledge into action" in Foil and wish he were interviewed as well as many others. This part left me wanting more but the mind of the fencer is one of my interests.

Having interest in both forms, modern fencing as well as classical it was interesting to see quality structured classes or lessons of both in the video.

I do feel the video provided an overall balanced and positive message about the nature of fencing and was visually appealing. The music was nice as well.

I think I'm supposed to be in that video. Haven't seen it yet, though (guess that's kind of obvious)

The reason hitting below the belt is not counted in sabre is that it could cause brain damage.
