In this situation, the referee has no option. The fencer must be ejected.

    Good times.

Saying "**** you" to an official is basically short-hand for "Excuse me, sir. I'm incredibly frustrated and would like to be ejected at this juncture. I do not wish to continue this contest. I would really like to unplug, take a shower, and blow off some steam in my hotel room. You know what you need to do, ref. "

I was watching the Indian's Yankee's game last weekend. The second base coach completely blew a call, and the Indian's manager, Eric Wedge, walked immediately to the ref and was able to get himself ejected with very little effort.
    Take your time. Read carefully.

Bobby Cox (Atlanta) has also made a career of trundling out of the dugout and getting himself tossed (primarily so that his players do not). At his age, speed, and bearing, there's always a sort of, "Welp, looks like time tah go get mahself thrown on outta here" vibe to his lumbering trudge across the field to the umpire. He never seems to yell or even raise his voice, but he never fails to get ejected, either. I half-suspect there's a tacit agreement between the veteran umpires and Bobby that when he levers himself up the dugout steps, he doesn't intend to return.

Wow, I didn't know the second base coaches were allowed to make calls! Or that there were second base coaches! Sounds like the Indians have a sweet deal going...

Now there's an idea, let's just let the coaches make the calls. I highly suggest we test out this new system at the next Y10 Girls Foil NAC event.

In the Y14 girls foil, the coaches were making calls. They didn't always match up with the call I made for the same action, but it's ok, I had the remote and scoresheet.

Coming soon, so stay tuned: LOTS of photos from the juniors/cadets in Siciliy, as well as Beijing and Algeria.

Amazing how none of Rebecca Ward's achievements are mentioned, looks like the reporter just looked for the results of the last olympics and then called it a day.
