Density Of Fencing Population Can someone tell me what is the fencer population per division? I remember reading it somewhere but cannot remember where I saw it.
The density of the fencing population is on the East Coast - ---Is that correct? -

You pretentious people are so cute. You just assume the original poster is American. And if you haven't figured out that this forum is largely skewed towards an American audience, perhaps your nose is too far in the air to witness the ground you're walking on. I am talking about the good old USA here.
Anyone know where I can find stats/numbers on fencers per division? (I'll take east coast vs west coast, southeast, midwest etc., etc.) -
In my experience, most fencers are quite dense. -

Array You can go to the USFA website and do a member search by division. That should give you a measurement of how many people are registered USFA members. Then divide that by total land area of a given state and theres your density of fencers/unit land area. -

From my observations, in the US the majority of fencers are from either coast, you get a lot from the NYC area and the SF area and generally less from the midwest "It is double pleasure to deceive the deceiver"

Array Looking at the density of fencers by state land area doesn't reveal much about fencing in the state. Fencers are not evenly distributed across a state by land mass; they are clustered around cities, colleges, and/or coaches. -

Fleshbroiler, how would that list look sorted by membership instead of alphabetically? (I'm too busy at work to do it right now) -
Based on that list, New Jersey should be a world power in fencing, as it probably has more licensed fencers than many countries...
...but it's not, because they use their weapons to hunt for mosquitoes. -

(I'm too busy at work to do it right now) I don't know, I'm at work now as well. I'll order the list by membership and repost later. If someone wants to get region definitions from the USFA, I can build a thematic map of the US. Similar Threads -
