Server busy?

Something wrong with the hamster? I've repeatedly gotten "Server too busy, try again" type messages when hitting the forums today.

Me too, and I've gotten it all day, deep into the night (like 11pm central time) and 6am Central. It seems to be a very unusually spread out load.

It seems there have been over 700 'guests' every time I've been able to load the cover page. I'm wondering how many spiders/bots are clogging things up or if there's some denial of sevice thingy going on.

Anyway, guess it's time for Craig to unzip the mattress and buy some new equipment. Or, get some raid and kill some of the spiders crawling on the site.

for reference, take a look specifically at the *nix server load limit and the simultaneous sessions limit

Spam had hit the mail queue and while fixing that the server went down. All is fixed now but we'll monitor it.
