Does my jacket have to be white?

If I got a white jacket and dyed it blue. Would that be against the rules? Could I still particpate in tournaments?

A small local division might not raise a stink (the rules DO allow for solid colors)....so long as any color isn't stinky dirt you should be fine....but why not play it safe and leave it as is?

Fencers’ clothing may be of different colors, apart from black.

I'm not so sure I'd dye the fabric...doesn't dye weaken fabric/textiles?

I can understand if you'd want a colored one for practice maybe, but the white competition jacket is tradition... >.>;; oh well.
