    hello from the bay area

Hello all. I started fencing because I had to take my daughter to fencing practice and it was too boring to sit (or too interesting to not take part) while she was fencing. My daughter has moved on to other pursuits but I was hooked. At least I can use most of her fencing gear. I have been fencing for a few years, still have not learned to disregard the muscle memory from the sports of my youth where the feet always go first- thus the moniker. I will be going to my first NAC this weekend in the V50+ WF (funny, I keep thinking I should be in the 40+ but that's not what my birth certificate says). Wish me luck.

You're a step ahead of most people, who never take the opportunity you've got. Good luck, and have fun!

Thanks for the encouragement. This seemed like a great idea a month ago when I signed up. I will do my best to have fun and will report back afterwards.

    Vet tournaments in So Cal?

I wish we had Vet tournaments down here. I don't feel like going up to fence in the Bay area. We need some down here.

    survived the NACs

Thanks to all of you for your encouragement. I just got back from the NACs. survived, and actually finished in the top half, which was my dream result. It seems I have a little bit more to learn about footwork, and also learning some of the rules might be helpful. But all in all, a lot of fun.

    I think I'm hooked.
