johnny blade is on a distinguished road
breaking blades

I have seen blades in the 70's-80's break in a sharp point. and have seen some injuries from those blades, if there were no difference in the blades why make them different prices, Blades have become better and yes they do break as flat as possible. sabre blades can still break at the point where they go from whip to y point and still be as flat as possible in the old days they were sharp as a knife. read westbrooks book as he talks about it when he was hurt by a broken blade. get the best blade you can pay for. the gear you wear protects you the blade you buy protect us. don't buy a cheap blade
and hurt someone. buy from a rep/vender thats been around a while.
you get what you pay for.

In all three weapons, I have never had a Chinese blade outlast others like PBT or Vniti.

Me too. One of my coaches once gave me several old but unused electric foil blades. Got a lot of use out of them, but when each eventually broke, it was a nasty split down the groove each time, producing an unsettling narrow "spike" sticking out, sometimes up to 2+ inches long. I've never had a Prieur or a Vniti break like that. Seems to suggest an evolution in the manufacturing process...?

Hmm, in my opinion I've used uh, almost exclusively China blades since I'm a poor fencing student.

I've broken about 4 in 6 months, mostly because I hit too hard I think, and I don't hit properly. They're...alright I suppose, but when I got my FIE blade from StM it was like some Godsend.

Now it's all soft and horrid, but it hasn't broken yet, so yeah. To think I only got it in December...
