| Pricing advice and other help from my fellow vendors/armorers Hokay.....thanks to the estate of Donald Benge, I now have a small supply of various items and need some help.
I have some Lughansk FIE foil blades -- 1992 date stamp. They're in good shape (they were never used, nor did Donald ever try to sell them from what I know), but I have NO idea what price to put on them. I did not find another vendor who currently carries them to get an idea.
I also have a supply of Leon Paul bayonet sockets and wold like to have some of them converted to sabre....problem is, I have never been able to do it and get the bracket back together properly. Anyone feel like lending a hand here?? You could take some of the sockets in trade...I have more now than I've ever sold.
PM me...thanks! |

| You just have to make sure you keep the bracket square.
I pop the plastic block out and substitute about 2 brass washers and then use some water pump pliers, about 12 inch size, like a press to put them back together.
I think when LP does it, they use a slightly longer spring. The washers should approximate the thickness of the plastic base that you leave out. You no longer need the metal ring that has the screw for the wire.
The secret is keeping the bracket square.

| We use a brass washer with a projection which picks up the locating hole in the I.G.S. bracket. Without this projection they tend to fall apart. Email me at work and we can supply some of these at a nominal charge. |

I also use the tiewrap on Foil sockets to help keep them together when the bracket gets out of square.
Brackets, both Foil and Sabre, usually get out of square when fencers try to bend the bracket while it is mounted on a complete weapon. If you want to adjust, or readjust, a bracket, you should disassemble the weapon, bend the bracket, and then reassemble.
Of course, brackets didn't fall apart so easily on older Leon Paul sockets when they used a screw to hold the plastic block in the metal bracket.

| Note that those foils aren't legal for FIE competition. While they may well have been homologated and the quality has not been compromised, there is no foil on the list that is dated before 1995, and Lughansk isn't even on it.
Again, doesn't mean they're not FIE quality, just not FIE legal.

Again, doesn't mean they're not FIE quality, just not FIE legal. | College coaches don't worry too much about FIE legal. But they do buy FIE quality because they have found that they last that much longer that they are cost effective.
The season is just about over, just the NCAA's. So coaches will soon concern themselves for stocking up for next season. They are also willing to buy in quantity, although they may not be able to pay until they get next year's funding.
If you can locate a coach who likes that type of blade, they may sign up for a considerable quantity, if not all of them. If you can wait for the money, you may not have to sell them by onesies.

(It is said that two different Ukraine firms, "Dinamo" and "Vostok" merged, and the single company is in Lugansk, and this company is sometimes referred to as Lugansk. The discussion here refers for simplicity just to "Dinamo", a name still in use to describe the products. The corporate logo described here is said to come from the "Vostok" side of the company's ancestry, and contains the Cyrillic letter ? (analogous to the English V) of ?????? (Vostok).)

| What kind of offers? I have no clue what the price might be now. I was trying to find it on google, but ended up reading a very interesting article about various blade manufactures, and was going to take off 16%, 1% for each year.

| And here we go (sorry for the delay...)
The blades are all in good shape...no major bends or dings....some are bare, some were wired, but God knows how long ago that was...I won't strip them on the chance that the tips DO work.
I have 15 of the blades (I also had a Lammet, a couple of LPs, and an LP epee that somehow got in there, so the count was off)
It was suggested the price should be between $100 and $120....so I'll go $110 (if the blade's wired, that's free!)
Shipping is $5
I DO have the following offers:
Fatfencer: 2 blades
Beloit Fencer of Old: not sure...I know he wants some
Cvillefencer: 1 or 2
Mergs: 3
A note....all the tangs are cut for pistol grips...approximately 3 inches from shoulder to the end of the tang.
Of these, only Mergs is assured (because I owe him money, so these will go against my balance), the rest should PM me.
Mike...I'll put aside three bare ones for you.
Looking forward to getting the offers!
