| Hey! All You Fencers! We are looking seriously at the new LP "fabric" strips. We need feedback from those of you who have actually fenced on any of them. I know that they had at least one each at Atlanta and Charlotte. There is currently a thread in Armory on this, but we want feedback from the fencer's perspective.
Of course, any Armorer is encouraged to put his/her .02 in, too.

| My suggestion? Ask about the fencer's perspective in that thread. Most of the people who hang out there at least USED to fence regularly, and lots of them either still do, or at the very least pay attention to what fencers say about things............

| They way they use them at NACs sucks because they just lay them right on top of the concrete. So basically you fence an entire pool on concrete because the rubber in the strips offers almost no cushioning. I dunno if there's a way around it, just an observation.

| I've only used them on a gym floor. I really like them. They have good traction, clearly marked lines (the older copper ones we have don't).
As a volunteer that often helps with set-up. I LOVE them! Their lightness makes set-up and shipping them a breeze!

f you are looking at them as something that can easily be laid down, used for a day or two, then take up and carried somewhere else to be used there, then they might make sense (they certainly have potential to beat many of the alternatives). However if you are looking at installation in a more or less permanent venue then I would think that one of the sectional strips or even a cheese grater floor might prove more durable. |
