Also, epee is just completely different from foil. You dont see the same kinds of beat-attacks, parries, flicks, and bent-arm actions in epee as you do in foil. So in epee I can post my epee and stick out my arm while retreating to counter-attack and score. This is fine with a French grip, but these actions just wont get you anywhere in foil.

. You haven't done epee since I bought yours years ago, right? -

Array I've noticed that on electric foils, there is some kind of tape near the point. Is this to hold the point in place? -

Electric foil uses a "normally-closed" circuit, which is a fancy way of saying that current can always flow from the machine, down the wire to the tip, then back through the barrel and blade to the machine. When the tip hits something it acts as a switch, breaking this circuit. The scoring machine interprets any break in the normally-closed circuit as some form of touch, it then uses other circuitry to determine whether or not the touch was valid. Without some form of insulation (usually tape) covering the outside of the barrel and end of the blade it would be possible for current to travel from the tip into the lame then back into the barrel and blade, so the scoring machine would never see the break in the circuit and never register the touch. -

. Nope. The WIRE is held in place with glue. The point is threaded in place. Some armorer's use a threadlocker on the point, most don't.
As above, the tape prevents shorts from the lame between the tip and the barrel, which would prevent a touch from registering. The latest timing changes make tape more important than it used to be. Check your tape! Tape is cheap, lost touches are expensive. -

Otherwise I would recommend ignoring OROD's feeble attempt at a joke and listening to Brtech. -
