Math & Fencing: a lesson by Maestro Ezio Zanobini For the more cerebral, this is an interesting dissertation by Maestro Ezio Zanobini. The article on Schermaonline.com includes photos of the Italian Men's Epee team and the Maestro with his two assistants. http://www.schermaonline.com/scherma...ticle&sid=1699
Maestro Ezio Zanobini has been fencing since the tender age of 6, a Maestro since 1980, and a high school math and physics teacher for many years which explains the angle of this article. He is the head coach at the fencing club "Cesare Pompilio" in Genoa, Italy. Ezio is assisted by his son Paolo, an accomplished competitive fencer and a Maestro himself since 1999 who often travels with the Italian junior national epee teams to World Cups and World Championships, and National Fencing Instructor Giuseppe Trivelli who during the day is an esteemed neurologist and in the evening dons the coach's paraphernalia. The fencing club Cesare Pompilio, in Genoa since 1958, is an epee club. Each year the club organizes the "Cesare Pompilio Silver Cup," and international men's epee team event at its 45th edition and the "Carlo Basile Trophy," and international women's epee team event at is 19th edition. http://www.pompilioscherma.it/index.asp
