I train because it's a great way to forget about stresses at work.

I train because it has gotten me in shape.

I train because it feels good--my body craves the activity.

I train because it gives me visible proof I am improving.

I train because it has--literally--kicked my butt into shape

I train because it feels good to be twice the age of most of my opponents, who size me up and brush me off as the "old one" in the pool (except in my Section--they know better by now), then kick their butts

I train because there's always something I don't know or can't physically do yet--and I want to accomplish more.

I train so I can be a better fencer. Or at least so I won't be a worse one. Since I am the coach it is hard to get much in the line of lessons.

I train because I love it, but a big part of how hard I train has to do with regret. I fenced about 2 1/2 years half heartedly, since I started when I was 13, and for the last year and a half I've been stressing my effort more then I used to.

I probably fence 3x as much now. I just wish I could have done that from the start. But maybe it's better this way.

I started fencing because I needed to start some form of exercise to combat my diabetes. My insulin use immediately went down by 25% and I haven't developed any of the long term side effects of the disease.

I train because it keeps me alive! You would be astounded what a motivator that is!

I train because I love fencing.

I train because I love wining.

I train becasue I my coach is great.

I train because I get sick when I don't get exercise.

I train so that if I loose it's not because I'm not working for it, it's because I'm not there yet. That way, I'm less angry at myself when I don't win.

My motivation is to be able win. Not to be the team's target test. To just get better.
