| Dear Musicfencer,
Just remember that round is a shape as well. Being a supposed chubster doesn't seem to have hindered Seth Kelsey too much, so take heart from that.

| If you're looking for magic, you need to talk to the moose about that! Not that I'm still lurking or anything.

| I really should add D'art and Magic Moose to the list of people who can answer questions (if they're willing) while I'm away. *Fencergrl does her special magic moose call*

Getting in shape hurts, but it is such a beautiful pain. The body is reshaping from couch potato to amateur warrior. Throughout remember: Fencing is fun.
Also for those of us of a certain age, pain is the body's way of telling us we are still alive.
Enjoy the new season beginning today.
Please come back soon FencerGrl, and do keep in touch. We, speaking for me and my various personalities, will be thinking of you... yes we will ... ditto.

Maybe the magic is hiding, lots of stomach crunches with toes tucked under the edge will help you find the magic under the couch.
Oh no, magc hides in the carpet. Need to lower myself down slowly to look, up again to try and focus. No, down again. Must do this 50 times to make sure.

Musicfencer | Well,
Seeing as how it is musical YOU. And you had to ask a curmudgeon[tm].
There are many magics and ways. You get to choose. I personally started out with a folk song, "Lock the door, Lariston" [ The dour, grim fighting which took place almost constantly in the Scottish Borders for centuries is recalled in this song by the Borders poet James Hogg (also known as the "Ettrick Shepherd"). Many of the surnames which appear in this song were well known in the Borders.] A good version is recorded on the album "Fyre and Sword". Look it up for yourself or here: http://www.audiolunchbox.com/album?a=103672
And practice 100 lunges, you can do it in time to the music. 25 short direct lunges, 25 medium direct lunges, 25 long lunges, and 25 advanced lunges.
But if you want to do advanced work I recommend a little air guitar and/or head bonking along with my latest earworm curse Nightwish. You can download the whole LowLands concert 2005 <takes several nights> as 8 100meg files which can be concatenated into a single an avi file from. http://forums.superiorpics.com/ubbth...24/an/0/page/1
Turn the stereo/computer speakers up way loud and do the same thing as Tarja, the diva. Roll your head, try to keep up with the guitarists running around on the stage. See the drummer and the keyboard man sweating like crazy. A great introduction to heavy metal, folk rock, Goth. You know fighter pilots like this kind of music. Gives them that killer edge. In your copious spare time try to figure out the lyrics to "Kinslayer", "Dark Chest of Wonders" and be glad your children escaped being Goth. But if you wish a little black fingernail polish and you too could be in the audience. See the BIG guy out there head bumping with the best.
If you get this far you've gone too far.

I do believe Sir. | Meh, not unless you predate the last Ice Age, as I do.
I was a curmudgeon when it just meant clubbing the guy in the next cave because he smiled.

| I got back today. I'm not quite ready for modern society. F-net oldtimers know from previous trips to the wilderness I need a few days to get used to city life.
My fingers barely remember how to type, yet I'm quite capable of whipping up over a firepit a lovely 3 course meal (c/w baked dessert) for a hungry group of international travellers.... I'm so not ready for the Internet right now, I need to go find some wood to chop or something. I might be okay sometime next week.

(This is a true situation...I'm not kidding...HELP...alright) | Dear HELP,
First off, it never hurts to be a nice guy.
Secondly, it's good to date a variety of people. That's what being young is all about. Figuring out what type of person is right for you. The last time I dated a guy who "wasn't my type" I ended up marrying him. He's completely the opposite of what I was looking for, yet oddly enough this worked better for me than the guys I am normally attracted to (and divorced).
Thirdly, if it turns out poorly you still learn something about the type of person that's right for you and you might come out of it with a funny story to tell.... so it's win-win.
It's only a date, suck it up and go into it with an open mind. As far as being touched... well... I've always thought guys are rather fond of that.
Sheeezzzz... it's a date, lose the drama and enjoy yourself.
