Array mask repairs okay, so my FIE B&G mask is falling apart. the rubber lining on the outside is coming off of the metal and the bib, thus leaving an opening between the metal and bib which means a foil could come through and hit my neck. i have put tap on it for now, but i don't think that will be allowed in competition, or will it? should i glue the rubber back on and see what happens? this mask isn't even a year old! bballchick77 -

Array I'd get an experienced armorer to make the repair; with something like this, I would only trust a pro. -

Array Do one of the following immediately: - Contact either Fencerbill or Yeoldearmorer (they may be the only people who would even take on this type of repair), or
- Get a new mask

Get a hot glue gun/borrow one and use it to glue the rubber back on. I did that with my mask years ago, and it's still going strong. -

That might suffice if only the rubber is coming loose, but if there is an opening between the bib and the mesh where a blade could come through then the problem is much more serious. -

Array Allow me to second SJCFU. If there is a gap between the mesh and the bib, either have a skilled armorer repair it (not particularly cheap, but less than a new FIE mask) or ditch the mask (what I would actually recommend before something else fails) and get a brand less prone to failure such as a LP, Preiur, Negrini, PBT, etc. Just another lost soul saved by the (hit) First Church of EPEE!

Array Fencerbill is in the New England area of the country and he does a outstanding job on mask. PM him and see what he said. Tim Loomis
