People need to stop justifying NOT washing

Ok, so after fencing you come home..your gear is still wet right?

Perfect.

Just throw in warm water wash and gentle rinse. Not cold, not hot, just warm and use just a dab of gentle liquid detergent. Don't use a whole load's worth of detergent otherwise it might not come out all the way during a gentle rinse. If you don't get all the detergent out your gear will start smelling REALLY funky after a weeks use and not washings..something about the smell of sweet detergent trying to break free from the evil of dank funkness... EEK!!!

So anyways, if you live in an apt with pay machines here's what you can do. While your gear is still wet rinse it out in the shower/tub and hang dry over night. Works great.

Bathing and washing of clothes is a good thing. I wash all of my gear as often as I fence during a week. No stinkiness allowed!!!!!
