Obviously, the Pats should roll to another division title, probably winning all six games. But the battle for second just got a little tighter. I still think Buffalo will finish second, going 4-2 or 3-3 against the Pats, Dolphins and Jets. | I wouldn't worry about Brett. He makes good teams better and bad teams worse.
However, Favre being traded to the Jets is the worst thing to ever happen. This is like the 9/11 of football over here. A national monument has been destroyed.

| I've actually heard a lot of people saying that Buffalo is still the more talented team. Personally, I am so sick of Favre that I hope he gets injured, just so I don't have to hear about him. His first action in the pre-season could be vs the Redskins...I vote for an evil safety blitz by Landry, like what we had last year against the Jets, and level his punk arse.
matt, our teams get to send each others scrubs at one another on Saturday! Aren't you excited? ^_^

He's 208 pounds of fury at third-string free safety. Actually, I'm cheering for him, because he's a hometown kid. I wrote about him when he was in high school. I also did a couple stories on him last year when he was trying to make the Bills roster. He spent last year on the practice squad.

| That was quite the scrub battle. Our backup CBs seemingly suck. We really need Carlos Rogers back.
And Campbell is a beast.

| I was so pissed off to hear an analyst talk about how much better J.P. Losman did in the game than Trent Edwards did. "Could this be the beginning of a quarterback controversy in Buffalo?" I wanted to jump through the television and slap the guy senseless. Media assholes like him create problems. There is no controversy. Like it or not, Edwards is the starter and will be until he proves he can't do it. If Losman is still with the team at the end of the season, I'll be surprised.

The best I often hope for is a lack of outright stupidity on the part of the announcer.

Watched it on and off after that. But I feel you pain with the stupid asses calling for a QB controversy; people were way to high on frickin Collins after last year. Nobody would give Campbell the excuses they gave him.

| 08 - 09 Patriots OK. It's halftime of the Pats third pre-season game. Granted, Brady hasn't played a snap yet. But the D is pretty much intact. And the Pats 5uck. Then they swallow, and ask for more.
Uh...Bills to win the AFC East this year? |

| I don't get to see my team's game this week...and it's the one I actually really want to see. Grrrr. Ah well, at least I get their first game nationally televised!

| I can go to Old Chicago and use my influencing ways to get it on a TV with the sound. It all works out.

| Kevin Faulk Many of you have heard about Kevin Faulk's one game suspension for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy. He was caught in Louisiana with four "blunts" in a jacket he was wearing. He pleaded no contest, and accepted the consequences without whining (at least in public).
He also quietly said that the jacket was borrowed, he did not know the "blunts" were in there, and asked for, and took, a drug test which came up negative.
Is it possible that he had the blunts, and intended to BEGIN a drug habit at the Lil Wayne concert he was attending? Sure...anything is possible.
Regardless of whether he is guilty of using marijuana in the past or not, I think people have to be careful of the company they keep. Kevin was clearly not careful enough either way.
What stands out to me, however, is his lack of whining, extreme protestations of innocence, or fighting the suspension tooth-and-nail. He's handled the situation with a great deal of class. And he's not turning a bad situation into a worse situation with all the distractions which would come with it. |

| It's always good to have class acts on your team. That's why I like the Redskins.

| Hokay...MSNBC poll? We all know that polls are ALL flawed in some way. But I was surprised when I happened to look at the MSNBC poll of who will win the next "Big Game.*"
OK...Pats were at 20%. Dallas was at 18%. The Giants were at 5.3%. Finally, the Colts were at 7%.
If I were the Giants, I would use this as motivation.
Poll: http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/26486586/
* I don't have a license to use the real name of this game...so you will have to get the reference. |

| Oh damn. Brady is out for the season with a torn ACL. That just sucks.

This will be a good test of the team's coaching, defense and other personnel. They're looking at Chris Simms (doesn't Belickick have some history with ANOTHER Simms???). It will tell us a lot about the team's ability to pull together and play their best to maybe make the playoffs. I think this puts the Pats right into the mix with the rest of the AFC East.
If nothing else, it will stop that annoying talk of "can they have another perfect season."
I feel worst for Randy Moss. He's been fantastic as a Patriot (I mean behavior...a REAL TEAMMATE). He came here because of Brady. Moss is very upset about Brady being out. I hope he can keep it together, do his best this year, and stick around for next year. |

| Although I do have to ask...given that the Bills seem to be clicking, do we get a guarantee of playoffs from Matt?
Come on Matt, you know you want to.

Come on Matt, you know you want to. | Oh, believe me, I want to. But I guaranteed it last year, and we all saw how that panned out. I will say this. The Bills are better than they were last year, and I was very impressed with yesterday's win over Seattle. It was nearly flawless in all three aspects of the game. If Buffalo can avoid the plague of injuries it had last year, this could very well be the first playoff year for the Bills since 1999. Of course, there are the idiots here who are talking about Buffalo winning the Super Bowl this year. That's a far stretch. But I think Buffalo could go 9-7 or 10-6 and get into the playoffs with a wildcard. Even without Tom Brady, New England should be able to win the division, but Buffalo will finish second in the AFC East.

Hmmm...I wonder if Drew's been keeping in shape...
