Array Ladies: Plz help, cannot determine plastron size Well guys are welcome to answer if they know, I am just slightly shy about asking this. I am going to buy the plastron that looks like a hard bra not the one that looks like the underarm protector. If my bust is 34 inches what size do I need? I will buy it from fencing.net
THANKS!!! -

Array In fencing, plastron refers to the underarm protector. What you're talking about is a chest protector. They're both required, but they're different things.
A plastron protects your armpit and is fabric. They come in small, medium, large, XL and so on. Just go with your T-shirt size.
A chest protector is hard plastic and protects your chest. You should include your cup size, because a 34A is probably different from a 34D. I would suggest a medium, but I don't know, I can't even get that sort of thing off without both hands. -
Every person romanticly interested in women should learn to handle the little clips, but chest protectors are strapped on with velcro! If you can't handle getting that undone one handed...
To answer the original question, there should be a sizing chart. See here: http://shop.fencing.net/Econo_Guard_p/bk-eco.htm -

Array I'm reliably advised that nobody ever buys the small size ... -

Originally Posted by The Armourer I'm reliably advised that nobody ever buys the small size ... I wore a small and am not an uber-tiny person. The boob-holes in all of them are plenty big; it has much more to do with the width of your rib-cage. You want a chest protector that curves around your ribs, and if you buy a too-big size, it sticks out and is REALLY uncomfortable.
Also, for the record, my chest protector has bra-style hooks rather than Velcro. It's nice; it doesn't get stuck to things. -

Actually, cup size has very little to do with the size of the organ it protects. It has to do with the size of the space between one's thighs. That's why the sizing chart has to do with height and body weight, not measurements in inches. Similar Threads -
