Foil lame', missing a clip thingy?

Hi,

I recently journeyed into electric fencing, and bought and had delivered a foil lame' (see the attached picture).

I'm used to my regular fencing jacket and how it attaches, via a plastic clip attaching to a strip of cloth, that goes directly down and underneath the crotch and around and clips to another plastic clip hanging off from the jacket at the lower back.

Is this lame' a defect and is missing such a clip, or is the cloth strip supposed to be connected to the rings at the lower left?

I figured I'd make a fool out of myself online rather than to a fencing coach in person.

Thanks in advance,

Looks like you're supposed to thread it through those D-rings on the side. Whoever sewed it must have combined the part where you hook to the reel and the part where the cuissard strap attaches.

You need to return it to the vendor and get one that you can actually use. What brand is it? Where did you buy it from? Some vendor's customer service are a lot easier to deal with. You may have some trouble getting a replacement or your money back depending on who you got it from, but it certainly is your right.

In the Boston area by any chance? I have many of the missing things.

If it is a double D-ring, then it is in the wrong place, it should be in the middle.

For where it is located, it should be a single D-ring for snapping on the reel cable. It should be on the left side in back for a right-handed fencer. If this is for a left handed fencer, it should be on the right side.

Depending on how difficult it is to return the Lame, someone with a sewing machine can correct the problem with about $3 worth of parts from your local sewing center and about 10 minutes.

Upon closer inspection I realize that it is in the completely wrong position. The lame appears to be a lefty lame, as the zipper looks to be on the right side. In this case the reel clip loop should also be on the right side. This is one messed up lame.

Yes, it is a lefty lame'; I fence left handed.

Ok, so it seems my suspicions are correct, that this lame' is seriously not right!

For those that are curious, it is a Blade brand lame', ordered through my fencing academy.

Thanks for the help in verifying that it was not made correctly! I'll be going back to my fencing academy, with lame' and receipt in hand for an exchange.

I took it in, compared it to some other lame's they have, same brand, and the good lame's have a double ring in the center, and a single ring on the side, so they said they will order me a new one (they didn't have correct size in L-hand to give me).
