| summer camps in europe Does anybody know of any good summer fencing programs in Europe? My son is 14, been fencing sabre for about 4 years. We live in Spain, so heading Stateside for camp can get expensive! |

| There are several.
One is in Hungary. Do a search for "Szombathely" and read through the threads for all the info about it you could possibly want. I also know there's a junior fencing camp in France , though how many sabreurs/sabreuses they have I've no idea.

| Zilverzmurfen, thanks for the info. The one in Hungary looks promising, and I have seen it mentioned here before. Do you know anything else about the one in France? That would be ideal--closer to us, and give my son a chance to improve his French... |

There is also a nice physical conditioning/fencing/French immersion camp near Montreal. I know two fencers who went last year and they had a great time, got in shape for the season and improved their French!
edit: if you're interested, I'll email tomorrow and get the name. |

I've taken out the date information, since it is not pertinent-but this is the same guy. Hopefully the phone and email have not changed.
Here it is: "Les Seigneurs de la Rive-Nord" is a fencing club in the Montreal, Canada area. My name is Gilbert Gelinas, Club Fencing Master. In response to our successful fencing camp last summer, we are again having a resident bilingual / cultural french / english fencing camp at our center for fencers 12 thru 16. You may contact me at (450) 621-7264 or at mgjesc@hotmail.com for more information. Thanks!
Good luck and if anyone knows Mr. Gelinas, maybe they could pass on that there are people looking for info about his camps. |

| Here is the link for «Les Seigneurs de la Rive-Nord». http://www.seigneursrivenord.com/
They generally have good summer fencing camps (mostly sabre) because they also associate themselves with europeens masters. 2 Years ago, it was Michai Covaliu and is coach Michai Oritza. Last year, it was Bruno Trobo from France. The top 3 canadian cadet sabre fencers are comming from this club. |

Please note that the invitation was from 2005 and it seemed to be for foil and épée primarily. If the location etc. looks ok for you though I would suggest sending them an e-mail and inquire more. Chances are they have added sabre to their program since 2005?
Best of luck, and do consider the camp in Hungary. Lots of kids your sons age and lots of sabre. There's usually a fairly big contignent of spanish fencers going to the camp in hungary, so he will not be alone.

| I definitely think the one in Hungary sounds the most promising...does anybody know when they post the dates? I sent an e-mail to the coordinator but haven't heard back. I'm trying to coordinate with another camp in Ireland, so I'd love to know the exact dates... |

| Gav,
Are there any in Scotland that you could recommend, or even clubs that would be willing to host a fencer?

(Or senior fencers, at least.)
