Any update what the team result relative to Venezuela means for USA MET's chances of getting the zonal spot?

USA gets 30 points for Men's Epee Team, VEN gets 18. So, US picks up 12, but VEN was up by about 40 - so they need to replicate that another one or two times. (But I'm not accounting for the rolling points, so I don't know which points are rolling off.)

The US is now 10th with 198 points and VEN is 7th with 212 points. The US needs to pick up another 15 points to take the lead over VEN, something which is definately doable for the squad.

VEN has a 10th and 12th place finish which will roll off. The US has a 9th and 7th place finish. (Both from Kuwait and Stockholm.)

Thanks for that update Craig, I have been wondering where our Epee team stood as well.

Any news on the CIP, like when it is and if it already occurred, who did what?

hmm.... standings are based on rolling points
so USA picks up exactly 0 points because they were also in 6th place a year ago
    VEN loses 4 points

It is only doable if VEN does not make top 16 or USA makes top 4,
both of which are highly unlikely

it is very important thing to take rolling point into account - VEN has lesser places to "protect"

Pretty much everything was decided when USA lost to Sweden and did not make top 16 in Word

How likely is it that Venezuela makes top 4 in the standings before the qualification date, thereby liberating the AM spot for the US?

Well I am hoping for US in ME,it is undoubtedly my favorite event and I don't want to watch Venezuela. I don't have a good reason for not wanting to, I am just patriotic and stuff.

So for those of you in the know of how things work, how much work is ahead for our epeeist? Assuming misha is sure of this stuff, has the US gotten a final 4 finish this year? I understand VEN is on fire so it is unlikely they will flunk out.

Should I stop holding my breath? I am turning blue in the face already. And where can I go to learn more about this information? any help would make me gleeful and excited. Thanks
