For the body cords it depends on the manufacturer....it's not standardized. Most are 3.5mm (I forget the pitch)...same as the threaded tip of a foil blade...but some others are smaller, similar to an epee tip screw.

Where's Mergs? He asked teh tip screw question a while back and should have that answer....I forgot....it's tiiiiiiiiiiiny tho!

Re teh sabre socket....are you talking the nut on the receiving sockets? And which type...French or German (They're a little different)

Lots of variations. Generally, each vendor is different. All of the german screws are the same (although I don't know the specs), and SOME, but not all of the french screws are the same. Other than that, everything is different one way or another.

There are 3 screws in an Uhlmann 2 pin, all different (two for the body, one in each pin, and the one holding the clip).

I beg to differ. Almost all the screws I have bought for fencing equipment are 3 mm of various lengths and head shapes.

I have never seen a 3.5 mm screw used on any fencing equipment. Except perhaps on set screws used in some pins. They are usually 3 mm flat point by 3 or 4 mm.

Most of the screws on Foil and Epee plugs are either 3 mm x 10 mm flat head or 3 mm x 8 mm cheese head.

The screw used on a German Foil plug retainer is a 2 mm x 5 mm cheese head screw used with a 2 mm outside star washer.

The screw used on Leon Paul bayonet sockets to hold the wire are different thread. Someone from LP did post the size in a thread a couple of years ago. I believe they sell the right size in packages of 10 along with the correct flat washers.

Aren't the irritatingly cheap brass Prieur screws 3.5??? I may not be remembering it correctly.

Do you mean the set screws in the pins in a Prieur body cord plug? I think you are right about those. But the screws that hold German body cord plugs and knockoffs together are the 3 mm.

Perhaps I hv to specfiy my question since there are so many types of body cords. For German 2-pin model, how many types of screw are used (which part)? Andwhat are their size? For foil blade tip, what's the size of the screw?

thank you very much

German body cord.

3 pin plug (reel end):

Shell screws - 3 mm x 10 mm cheese head

Pin set screw - 3.5 mm x 4 mm flat point set screw

Fencer end:

Shell screws - 3 mm x 8 mm cheese head

Pin set screw - 3.5 mm x 4 mm flat point set screw

Retainer - 2 mm x 5 mm cheese head with outside star washer

Foil tip:

You really have to buy German tip screws from a fencing vendor. Buying them from another source is just asking for trouble. You can get the body cord screws from other sources. Some posters go to Grainger, I get mine from Metric Screw and Tool in Mass. I have never seen anyone specify their size, I suspect they are a special rather than standard screw.

Just dotting i's, the connector housing screws are .5mm pitch right? Do you happen to know what the pitch of the set screws are?

I do know they are a different pitch than the 3 mm connector housing screws. I believe they are standard pitch rather than a special pitch.

Foil ends are 3.5 mm by 0.6 mm pitch and my 3.5 mm set screws will thread into a Foil barrel.

The one with a hole is not truly specific.

If it is an LP bayonet socket, buy them from Leon Paul, links here on f.net.

If it is a LP knockoff, good luck, they are not the same.

I'm wondering if he means the sockets on the 2 pin brackets.

You get them from the vendor of the bracket. The Uhlmann/Allstar parts are different from the Prier, and the knock-offs of them are different.

The FWF is the same as Uhlmann-Allstar.
