Results from the SYC at the UNH? Does any one know what are the final results at the SYC Men's Foil event?
Who are in the top 16? I can't retrieve any information from the UNH Fencing website or from askfred. Do the top 32 get points? -
No results posted so far.
Points will be awarded to the top 40%, to a max of 32nd place, of the field regardless of where the cut off occurs, within a pool round or a direct elimination bracket. Only the whole number of the value obtains when calculating 40% of the competitive field will be retained. Any fraction will be dropped. (from USFA web site). -

The USFA Athlete's Hanbook at Appendix A-16 seems to say something other than this. Appendix A-16 also seems to be a change from previous years
(Quote from 2007-2008 Athele Handbook, Appendix A-16)
"The Super Youth Circuit competitions will award points to the top 40% of the field regardless of
where the cut off occurs, within a pool round or a direct elimination bracket.
For all other National point competitions, points will be awarded for placement within the direct
elimination bracket in which the top 40% of the competitive field falls to a maximum place of
32nd."
Do any of you out there know about this change? -

Array How was it this year?
I remember a thread about this LAST year, where there were some preeeetty nasty things said.
In particular, how was the temperature control, and how were awards handled?
Was it run as as much of a fundraiser as last year? -

Array I thought it was run well. The heat was MUCH better than last year and they had nice medals for top 8. There was a bit of shortage of trained ref's which seems to be a national problem, but when people made complaints they seemed to be addressed. I think volunteerism is under appreciated in the fencing community. In our division we have lots of people who flap their jaw, but never roll up their sleeves to help. Similar Threads -
