I am sure that this has been covered before, but the material inside of the Uhlmann Mask around the chin and mouth has disintegrated in several places, revealing the foam or whatever it is underneath. Can this be repaired? Thanks

Yes but not easily. Difficult to do short of removing the bib from the cage, repairing and then remounting. You could hand sew an additional layer inside. I recommend heavy 100 % cotton twill, just about the weight of jeans denim.
If this is an FIE mask, don't be too concerned about safety, you still have multiple layers of protection. You do have to worry about missing rivets and the integrity of the rubber band to cage adhesion.
If this is an inexpensive mask, you must now consider the safety aspects. Some of them consist of only the outer bib layer, foam and liner. You may be down to just one layer of protection and its integrity as the mask accumulates usage.
Worst of all are the masks with only outer layer, foam and liner where the outer layer has two pieces of fabric joined in the center. For them you have to worry about the seam deteriorating as well as the outer layer.
Some inexpensive masks do have one or more interior layers between the outer bib layer and liner in addition to the foam. For these, the situation is more of comfort than safety.
Have the mask examined by an experienced armorer or coach.
Ye Olde Armorer may be a source of repair if that is what you decide on.
Whoopee! My avatar is back.
Thanks very much. The mask is FIE (it was shipped from Germany at a gastromonical cost) and has been used at several NACs. It's just causing irritation to the skin at this point.
Like fencerbill say is to hand sew a new layer in the bib it self or a we done on some our we used terry cloth and velco it in so it can be wash. Plus I am a very
