Don't take life so seriously... You'll never live through it.

Going to your first tournament? Read "Choose yer weapon, Laddie (or: Dude, where's my foil?)"
I'm sure there are several. I like "Score Pad".

Personally I prefer PalmFencer to ScorePad (you could even run a small tournament from it). Unfortunately i can't find it on the Handango web site web site anymore.
On the other hand, ScorePad is free.

I've been in commmunication with Jon Daley, the author of the (IMHO) excellent PalmFencer program for the Palm pilot, and he says that Handango recently changed the way they deal with software authors and it was no longer worth wile for him to continue selling through them. here is the text of his e-mail to me:
My personal opinion: If you have a Palm device, get this program. It is MORE than worth the $15.00 that he has been asking for a licensed copy.Hi Erik,
Yes, handango changed their model so that it was nearly impossible for me to distribute through them. I haven't set up another distribution method yet. I'm thinking of changing my model to a more open distribution (no reg code), but a donations accepted. Do you have any opinions or suggestions?
In the mean time...
If you have people send me their email address and hotsync ID I can generate a registration code for them. They can make donations if they wish to my paypal account.

My only real wish is for an easier method of transering infrom between the handheld devices and the computer. Even so, if the program is paid for, then it is possible to beam/send pools between different devices. Our club recently held an in house competition and ran the whole thing on 3 of my old PDAs. I was able to enter all the pools into a single device then send them to the others so that people unfamiliar with them did not ahve to guess on how to enter the data. Then, when it was obvious that one of the pools was running slowly, I was able to beam the current pool to another PDA so that we could run the slow pool on two strips. The beamed data duplicated the pool results and we were able to continue without any problem.
I also found that training the referees to run the program very easy, although we really had seperate time keepers running the score and time for them. Even so, with releatively green people doing the scoring, there was only one instance of bad record keeping and everything was easy to see and validate.
Again, if you have a palm device, get this program. If you can afford to buy 3-4 old used devices, get them and then buy the program for your club. It is really nice!

I had tried the VERY early version of this program for the Palm and was dissapointed, as it didn't hold a candel to what PalmFencer was doing at that point. Of course it was a Beta version and the company was focusing on other polatforms that they felt would have a greater future (Symbian, Windows Mobil, etc) so they may have a decent product now:
