Array Advice for altering Knickers I have the unisex AF knickers, size 36 inch waist (whatever that size is), purchased from right here
I got them, because well, I was no longer a 34, but not quite a full 36, and, after 6 months of doing this, I appear to be a 34 again, which is the good news, but I am kinda swimming in them, which is the bad news.
Any suggestions for how I should deal with this somewhat happy problem? There seems to be an elastic around the waist, so I am assuming if they can be taken in, it will have to be at the front where the come together at the velcro. Sewing machines are out, for the obvious reasons, so I assume i'll have to hand stich (or beg the wife)?
Should I just suck it up and spend another couple bucks and get 34's? -

Array My knickers were also a bit too big when they arrived (not AF). What I did was sew a couple additional strips of velcro to expand the velcro area so I can pull the waist tighter. -
In a semi-related question, what's the best way to deal with knickers that might be too long?
I'm buying a set of knickers literally the day of a tournament this weekend, and probably won't have a chance to do any hemming or anything before I have to compete in them (yeah, I know, but it all came together at the last minute).
I suppose I can probably just roll them up and have the socks come up over the top; it'll definitely look goofy, but is it a potential safety/rules issue? -

Array Are you going to trip over them? If not, you don't need to do anything to them. -
Alright, thanks for the feedback. I don't imagine that will be an issue, but I'm not sure what the inseam size will end up being.
I'll deal with it either way. -
Fencing pants must be fastened below the knee. The ankle counts, and was common some time ago. A few people still fence in those pants, so I wouldn't worry about what you can get now. -

Array When I ordered my knickers from Escrime the hips fit great, but the waist was a bit large. Not wanting to mess them up, I took them to my tailor to have them professionally done. Now they fit like a charm. It was worth the additional $15.

The knickers that I own have a few extra inches at the top of each suspender-shoulder area (not sure what to call it). It's made so you can undo the sewing, let it out a little, then sew it back again.
I REALLY need to do this because I must have had a growth spirt in the off-season and the crotch is sitting waaaaay too high.
I'm sure if you're knickers have this feature you could do it the opposite way and add some more slack.
I don't really recommend having your knickers go all the way down to your ankles. It may work, but you will look like a frikkin' goober. (\ /)
