Array The MLB Thread My boy Goose Gossage made the Hall of Fame! I grew up watching the Yankees of the 1980s and he was definitely my favorite. I'll never forget the time in the 1981 World Series when he drilled Ron Cey in the head. It was the scarriest moment in sports until I saw Clint Malarchuk's throat slit by a skate.
I'm upset to see Jim Rice didn't get into the Hall of Fame. He deserves it. But he was miserable to the sportswriters, and they'll see fit to punish him for the rest of his life.
I still say Mark McGwire should be in the Hall of Fame, but that's just opening a can of worms with the whole steroids scandal in baseball. Can't you, just this once, f*** off? -

And hey...who are you bugging in that profile pic at RW? -

And hey...who are you bugging in that profile pic at RW? Her name was Mrs. Fenyn and her granddaughter was the star player on the Newark High School girls basketball team that went to the New York State semifinals last year. I interviewed her. And I do happen to remember quite a bit about the 1981 World Series. My family and I made fun of Fernando and Tommy Boy for being fat and loved Oscar Gamble for crouching so low in the batter's box. And whom did the Dodgers beat in the NLCS? Why, the Monteal Expos, of course.
The interview subject in my profile photo is the head coach of one of the local high school teams I cover. That was taken during media day for the Section VI championships at Ralph Wilson Stadium. Can't you, just this once, f*** off? -

Cool. You look really young in the photo. And MY Kindergarten teacher was Mrs. Meggasin. She was about 139 years old and had braces. Kindergarten was in a two-room schoolhouse! Who else here had a two-room schoolhouse???? Of course, I went to Kindergarten in 1974...which happens to be the year my first car was made. -

Back on topic, should Roger Clemens get the same treatment as Barry Bonds? Is it racist that they haven't? Can't you, just this once, f*** off? -

Array I think Mcguire was a one time thing. I don't like him as a player. (Just my opinion) Bonds is a cocky *&$. And I do believe Clements. If that trainer gave him the steroids he should be hung out to dry. Un-ethical. It's hard to see what is being shot into your butt. B-12 looks like Kool-aid. "Because I'm the mom, that's why."-- every good mom in history "You are the f.net mom" Sword Hobbit "as long as you don't call me the 'f.ing mom" Nicksmom -

Array I don't believe Clemens for a second. Why would the trainer lie about Clemens, but tell the truth about Andy Pettite? Pettite admitted to using HGH once, supporting the trainer's claim. I've suspected Clemens for years, as I did with Barry Bonds. Can't you, just this once, f*** off? -

Array Philly fans OK, my girlfriend and I are taking a trip to Philadelphia this summer, and we plan to go to a baseball game. Here's the problem: my girlfriend is a Braves fan and we're planning to go on a day when the Braves are in town. But I've heard Philly fans are HORRIBLE when it comes to out-of-town fans cheering for the visitors. I've heard horror stories about fans getting attacked at Eagles and 76ers games, but nothing about Phillies games. Granted, beer is always involved during the altercations. I've been to games in Toronto, New York, Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Los Angeles and San Francisco and never had a problem. Has anyone gone to a game in Philadelphia? What are the fans like? Can't you, just this once, f*** off? -

I live in Philadelphia and can tell you, fans, not so nice. They are rough on thier own team and merciless to the opposing teams and thier fans. At games I have witnessed heckling, name calling, tauting (none of it nice), but no phyiscal violence. Which does not mean it does not happen and as ugly as some of the taunting I saw was, I could easily imagine those drunken fools escalating. At the Vet I would have told you avoid the cheap seats, lots of drunken stupidity happening up there. At the current park, try and get better seat, be cool about your support, and I imagine you will be fine. Oh and avoid drunken idiots, always your best bet. Peace of Pizza is very good and there are some good selections of local beer.
When will you guys be in town? PM if you want, I can give you some ideas if you let me know what you might be iterested in. -
I'm kind of uneasy about the Yankees going into the 2008 season. I mean, the offense is all in order again this year, but the message of the last several years is clear- you can't bash your way into the series. God only knows how Joba will pan out as a starter, and they need Hughes to pretty much come blasting out of the gate. The upside is that even if somehow they both bomb, at worst, the pitching can't really get any worse than it was last year.
Also, the bullpen still sort of sucks. I want to know why Kyle Farnsworth hasn't been shot out of a cannon yet. The lack of having a real first baseman is also aggravating. Jason Giambi can join Farnsworth in the cannon...roided up waste of a roster spot. -

Array I think with all the steroid trouble in baseball, I'm very dissapointed with MLB. I don't plan on watching it next season in fact. Similar Threads -
