Tommi Hurme: Mercury Cup #3 Champion

Congratulations to Tommi Hurme, the Mercury Cup #3 Champion!

    http://askfred.net/Results/results.p...nament_id=4066

Tommi had a perfect day by going undefeated in pools and winning several challenging DE bouts against Dan Wheeler, Brendan Baby, Michael Feldschuh, and Stan Vaksman to make the gold medal bout. In the final, Tommi defeated Marvin Dacis with a score of 15-11.

A special congratulations to Marvin Dacis. After qualifying to this Mercury Cup event as a C & under wildcard by winning the last Caduceus Cup, Marvin had a truly unbelievable day. Marvin lost only a single bout in pools (also to Tommi Hurme), and then went on to beat Holly Buechel, Marc Oshima, Sean McGeveran, and #1 seed and Olympian Chris O'Loughlin. Marvin rightfully earned his B, and became the first fencer with a C or lower rating to make the final at a Mercury Cup event, ever.

With two events remaining, the Mercury Cup race is still very alive.

Stan Vaksman takes over as the Mercury Cup front-runner, with Alex Abend, Tommi Hurme, and Leaf Roiz close behind him. The winner will be decided by Mercury Cup #4 on April 13th, and Epeepalooza on May 18th.

Congratulations to Tommi, Marvin, and all our competitors!
