    Jacket/Lame Sizing issue

The current jacket I use is a "Large" and my lame is a BG 44 (the number was on the tag).

However, my chest size is around a 42 and all the fencing sites say to add 4" to chest length for proper fit. I find that my lame fits very well.

Now my question is this: If I were to buy a new jacket/lame, should I stick with the 44" size or use a 46" (42 + 4")?

    Thanks!

Each manufacturer has different patterns and each has a sizing chart. You should use the size chart for the brand of lame you purchase.

Best bet is to try them on if you can get to a vendor (either their shop or a tournament where they are vending). I've had good luck mailordering with the Uhlmann lames using the Uhlmann chart.

You should call BG on that...like Brtech said...different companies, different sizings. Fencing Post and I use the Uhlmann chart where you add 12 for a man, 4 for a woman. I THINK it's 6 for a BG men's.

as for the difference in teh jacket and lame...whatever size you buy in the jacket, go one size up on the lame or else it may be too tight since there's no difference in the sizing.

    Anecdotal, but it might help:

I have a 46 size (BG) jacket, and a 46 size (Leon Paul) lame.

    Both fit fine.

I don't know, honestly, both are my very first piece of gear in each category.

Maybe LP accounts for some extra 'room' in their lame sizing, so you can order the same size as for your jacket?
