    New epee

There is a very slight upward slant to this blade. I have tried to straighten it many times, none of which to any avail. Any ideas?

Also, I have a friend with a very... whippy(word?) blade. Any particular blade that is know to bend very easily or is it just luck of the draw?

Use a socket ended wrench to slowly bend your blade into the shape you want. An upwards bend is legal, as long as the curve is less than 1cm.

    Legal, but very annoying.

Should you use the socket wrench approach, you want the "O" part of the wrench to be just wide enough to go down the length of the blade. Don't use a big wrench. Go down the blade just using teeny tiny movements.

Any particular method to use, or just bend it slowly.

Take your time and use a series of small bends, all in slightly different locations so that you don't create a kink in one spot.

I use the round hole in the end of a adjustable (C) wrench.

Slide the wrench over the blade, hold the wrench parallel to the blade. Squeeze the wrench to the blade with one hand. When you do this, you will see that you are creating a small diameter curve between the point where the wrench hole contacts the blade and where the body of the wrench it hits it when you squeeze the wrench handle to the blade. You want to place the wrench so that the middle of that curve is where the bend in the blade is. Different size wrenches create different length curves, so I can't give you an actual placement guide.

As SJCFU#2 says, small bends, and move the wrench. You "over bend" it, meaning you bend the blade more than the curve, but still, it's not a huge deflection.
