Do Gloves need slits when using eletric swords?

Does a glove need a slit on the side when using an electric epee with the body cord? Or can you get away with a glove without a slit on the side? If so where can i get one and which kind is best?

if you will fence electrically, the glove needs to have a slit regardless of the weapon-this is for the cord to pass through from the sleeve of your jacket, to the socket of your weapon. In my opinion, any glove is fine (as long as it has the slit)-even in epee since the hands aren't valid target areas. fencing.net has a good selection of gloves-as does Absolute (absolutefencinggear.com)

    Welcome to F.Net.

Yes you will need a glove with a slit in it for the body cord. Just look at any of the fencing vendors online (Fencing.net would be a good plce to start) and you'll see that most have a variety of gloves.

    Good luck and have fun.
Blondes, brunettes or redheads? Personally I prefer epee girls; they are not afraid to touche all over.

Get a washable glove. If you daughter takes this seriously and works up a sweat week after week, washing is important.

The leather gloves are nice and have good traction or grip, and I used to wash them by hand, but the modern cloth are easier to maintain - i.e., to wash the stink out of.

After buying a lot of the cheapest gloves, I moved to a cloth glove with the little platicised nobs. It gives me a lot more grip. I think it cost about $40 at the Virginia NAC.
