Any bets on the number of entrants? Will ME reach 300?
(Confirmed entries should be posted any time now.)
Any new restaurants? |

| Anyone have any ideas for afternoon activities? Like when you walk out of the venue at 2 or 3 o'clock and have a few hours to kill? |

At the Atlanta SNs, I took the youth fencers up there to see Pirates of the Caribbean.

| My company made a big deal on our intranet site about how we do all the IT work for the Georgia Aquarium. It sounded pretty nice. It also happens to be http://maps.google.com/maps?ie=UTF-8...to&iwloc=A&f=d
Between the host hotel and venue, across the street from the venue. |

It might have been in the Buckhead mall, I just remember taking MARTA a decently long way and then a shuttle to the actual pedestrian mall. It was a good time.*
* We probably would have stayed up nearly that late anyway, and for no better cause. |

This is the website: http://www.buckhead.net/lenoxsquare/
It has info about quite a few restaurants:
I have been at Pacific Rim, Nava, Maggiano's (huge servings), Capital Grille, and a few others.
Here is a link for MARTA: http://www.buckhead.net/transportation/marta.html

If you are into fish, and who isn't, the aquarium is really great. There is lots to do there and some of the exhibits are amazing. I would definitely suggest checking it out if you have the time and money.

| During Summer Nationals we took the kids to Atlantic Station which is around 17th and W. Peachtree. Not that far from the venue. While I don't believe there is a MARTA stop there, I think there is MARTA bus service. They have movie theaters, dining options, albeit mostly chains and shopping.
Also don't forget the High Museum which always has interesting exhibits. There are also some decent restuarants within walking distance of the High.

| Places to eat / drink in Atlanta?
You only need one: http://www.hsus.com/
The drinks were good... I can't remember the food (however, I'm told that it was quite good)

| I went to Hsu's when I was there for the Atlanta Nationals two years ago. Overpriced and, well, I've had better take outs at local chingfoo restaurants here in the Bay Area.

| Please see the other sticky thread for discussion and voting for preferred date for the Sweetwater Brewery get together.
Other notes: Fencing Travel Portal for booking flights, hotels, etc. This uses the Travelocity engine.
I'll also look for any other things we can do. The Aquarium is nice and so is Centennial Park.

| I don't know if you still have to make a reservation for the aquarium but I had to do that two years ago when we were there for the SN. It was a great place though. Largest fish tanks I've ever seen.
CNN tour was cool.
Hsus was good - not the best Chinese outside Chinatown in any big metropolis but good enough. We had a very large party with no reservation and they took us anyway and squeezed us into the bar area in 10 minutes. Very accomododating. I'd call and make a reservation though if you have large party.
McCormick and Schmick at CNN center had decent seafood. A little bit pricey but wood paneled dining room kinda price close to the convention center. It's a chain but decent seafood. |

| Midtown and Virginia Highlands have more options for food and nightlife, and aren't quite as far as Buckhead.
