No option for body cords from lost-and-found at NACs?

See what I mean? How far do you go back? Eventually all cords will have been purchased, so by specifying "go back one level" you really don't solve anything poll-wise...

I think you're being purposely obtuse. It's just a simple survey, not an ontological debate.

If you do need it spelled out, for the purposes of this survey, along with previously mentioned stealing, also ignore cords acquired by trades, scrounging, happening upon, spontaneous generation or any other means of acquisition not delineated in the four options in the survey.

And why the quotes around "go back one level"? I never said that.
I did say "- Intermediaries are not germane - "A gave it to B who gave it to me.", then B is not relevant to the poll."

What if the poll is merely flawed? :P

Can you please explain the spontaneous generation thing? It would save me a lot of trouble and money.

Can other equipment be spontaneously generated? What about bred? If I put my jacket and knickers in a bag together overnight, will they give birth to a plastron?

Let us assume that there is a method for acquiring body cords s/t there is no greater method conceivable.

And lo, let us assume that this method exists in the realm of fencer understanding,

And if this method did not actually exist, then...

Which is why I said that the poll is you-know-what.

Quote:

Sigh.

Let me try this by example.

Say I get some parts and repair a cord. You make that a separate option, but really it also boils down to "bought it" if you ignore "intermediaries". Because either you, or someone else from whom you got them, bought those parts or a cord from which they were salvaged. At some point, if you go back far enough, everything comes down to the same option: It was purchased. All of the other poll options are thus meaningless. There is only one option, and the others are all subsidiaries of it...

where's the option for them magically appearing in your bag weeks after you last used any of your kit?

I had one of those magic bodycords that just appeared out of nowhere. No one would claim it, so it's mine now. I count it as a gift from the fencing gods.
