| A Memorable Bout Today Today it was just like any other ordinary day (besides causing a test tube to explode during chem class).
End of school, fencing time! I eagerly put on my jacket, took up my foil, and donned my helmet.
'En Garde!' and I try to look menacing while en guard, didn't take too much effort as I am taller than most people.
'Pret!' GLARE AT MY OPPONENT!!!
'ALLEZ!' Some shuffling of footwork, some exchange of blades, while I constantly beat my opponent's blade. I was trying to provoke a response and do a parry-riposte. My opponent did three twirls in succession, successfully trifling my attempts to parry them, scoring a hit right on the center of my torso. And again, but this time, it was a simultaneous attack, and this took quite some time. We were already exhausted by the second point.
Third point, game point since we were doing very short matches. 'ALLEZ!' I immediately went for the most powerful fleche I could muster up, putting all my weight on my cross-over foot, I pushed off as hard as possible. I actually flew through the air with a beautiful stance as the other students recalled. My blade rammed straight into the opponent's chess, bending at a ridiculous angle. In fact, it bent so much it snapped in half, the top part flying off to somewhere.
My flight continued and my body collided with my opponents body squarely at full force and contact. We both fell flat on the floor and I was on top. His mask was somewhat dented from the front, and every student in the room was staring at me. The referee stared at my in awe, or rather shock. I was awarded a red card, and lost that bout. What a day.

| I've had a similar experience. I was fencing a DE bout and was up by 5. Since there was only a few seconds left my opponent fleched and I decided that, what the hell, I'll fleche to! So now we were both flying towards each other, kindof like jousting. He was quite taken aback and lost a little bit of control and bumped into me, causing me to trip and almost fall on some spectators.
We both recovered and laughed quite a bit about it. But I will not be doing that again.

Besides, it was only a 3-point match, which isn't exactly a high match point, unlike others where you go to 15 points, where mistakes are more tolerated. Yes, thank god I didn't use my own blade, but used the blade borrowed from the club, and no, I did not have to replace it. It was a lefty blade anyway, and there are like..10 lefties in the club. Oh yes, did i mention, the referee used a random piece of red-colored paper, because he couldn't find his set of cards. I did not lose that bout, I got the match forfeited, and my opponent 'won' :P Although my fleche was 'pure ownage'

| Some weeks ago my opponent and I fleched at exactly the same time. Both of our tips missed their target, so there were no lights, but we flew towards each other and collided in the middle.

As a matter of fact since that fleche got you a red card, causing your defeat, you have essentially owned yourself.
Damn n00Bs.

| I remember about a year and a half ago I saw a bout during practice between two low-level fencers who had natural athletic aptitude.
Both went forward one step and stepped back to take distance parry, then both did explosive flunges to take the attack again due to the fact that they had a very lackluster lunge. They collided in mid air and fell to the ground. It was maybe the most ridiculous fencing action I've ever seen. |

| I was fencing that curses weapon foil in NYC Circuit event what now a day would be a NAC. I was at the end of the strip and went to do a fleche the duck tape give away on both side of the strip. The video tape showed me 3 feet in the air and landing on the strip face first which push my mask into my face and blood was pouring out. I was kind out of it lose the bout.

Yeah, good one, bro.

| I still think it's 'pure ownage', when I lost the bout. We had a great laugh after it though, after all, he got owned more :P I still went up on the ladder, since I have enough points. I better start practicing my fleches, perhaps epee will not be right for me. seriously though, fleching INTO my opponent, that's just 'win'.

| Hm, sounds dangerous.
At a tournament last weekend, I was fencing my second DE, against a girl who isn't from my club, but who I sort of kinda know. I did a half-fleche (my knee was kind of out of whack, you see.. not 'injured', I guess, 'cause I fenced, but messed up, so I couldn't lunge too well.) and she did a duck counter attack. She missed, no lights, I went, 'wth?!' and tried to recover from the surprise fast and touch her back. Instead, she stood up a little whils I did this, and the tip of my weapon went right through her ponytail, under the elastic. It only took us about 3 seconds to GET tangled, but about 3 minutes to get UN tangled.
