Who knows, the velcro might provide an extra Newton of protection. -

Did you really? That's... amazing. I think we need a contest, something along the lines of "Pimp My Lexan". Inquartata and bigdawg are the first two contestants.
Did anyone else see the dummy skeleton wearing the lexan mask at one of the vendors' booths? It made me wonder if you could get a hologram skeleton face on some lexan, I've seen it done with glasses before so it must be possible. Maybe Milanoli's evil clown face? -

Array You could just wear a skeleton mask under the fencing mask. My backup plan for Sydney, if they had refused to let me use the mesh insert, was one of those comic glasses-nose-bushy-moustache-and-eyebrows sets... Use the Shift key, people! Keyboard manufacturers everywhere are ineffably saddened when you ignore what they made just for you! -

If the FIE thinks that crazy looking welders' masks are going to help the sport, they are smoking strong French crack.
Rene Douche is a grade A pud. Why the sport hasn't collectively asked for his head is beyond me. -

Array No no no. Don't you see?
Ever since the FIE adopted the Lexan masks, television coverage of the sport has exploded! This was exactly as predicted by the FIE. Almost every television channel now broadcasts something to do with fencing every day! All types of fencing! Wood, hurricane, chicken wire . . .

And NOW they are rquired for International events... i PERSONALLY FIND IT NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO WATCH FENCING EVENTS NOWADAYS. "WHAT HAPPENED TO THE FENCER'S HEADS?" I ASK MYSELF. I, LIKE MUCH OF THE AMERICAN PUBLIC, APPEAR TO HAVE A PROBLEM WITH OBJECT PERMANENCE. NOW THAT I KNOW THAT THE FENCERS STILL EXIST BECAUSE OF THE LEXAN MASKS, WE HAVE A CONTRACT WITH MCDONALD'S TO SPONSOR COVERAGE OF ALL NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL FENCING EVENTS. WE'LL START IT ON ESPN2, THEN MOVE IT TO ESPN ONCE IT TAKES OFF.
THESE CHANGES COME INTO EFFECT NEXT YEAR, SO A WEEK OR TWO IN CHECK YOUR LOCAL TV LISTINGS FOR FENCING. WE PLAN ON ADVERTISING IT HEAVILY, SO YOU CAN JUST WATCH NORMAL TELEVISION AND YOU'LL PROBABLY SEE AN AD. -
