Array HELP! Looking for The old Point Control Software Again Folks: Our (cash poor) college club is looking to hold our end of the semester tournament, but I have managed to loose my copy of the old Point Control fencing program. I know that htis is no longer state of the art, but we currently do not have the spare $$$ on hand to purchase a full version of the very good Fencing Time program, and since we are expecting more than 16 fencers at the competition the 'evaluation' version just won't allow us to get the job done. I';ve tried to go to the old web site, but it has been taken down. Does anyone have a spare copy of this program that I could get a hold of?
PLEASE!!! I would hate to have to go paper for this one as very few of the folks here understand how to run a competition and the program is our best bet. Thanks! "Rub her feet!" - Lazarus Long, Time enough for Love, Robert A. Heinlein "Never moon a werewolf."

Array Get EnGarde? Freely available on the FIE website, and a fair amount of people actually prefer it. http://www.fie.ch/Tools/Softwares.aspx -

Array Thanks for the hint. any idea about the learning curve for this program? (I already know Point Control.) I won't have much time to work with it prior tothe competition. "Rub her feet!" - Lazarus Long, Time enough for Love, Robert A. Heinlein "Never moon a werewolf."

Array Its pretty self explanatory, as long as your running a pretty default competition. It can do pretty much any format you want (its the FIE software after all) intuitively , but if you have some sort of crazy plan with double repechage or some such you might want to read the help files:P
Just download both EnGarde and the english files, start EnGarde, and go file->language. After that, its all easy enough.

Array Another feature of Engarde is that you can run through a simulation, and auto-complete a round (pools, des, whatever) so you can practice with it very quickly.
I would recommend playing with the seeding & the setup a few times before you run a tournament with it, but I suspect you can figure it out well enough to run a tournament inside an hour of careful experimentation.
(BTW, I would recommend spending at least an hour if not much more doing dry runs with _any_ tournament management software, including Fencing Time, so please don't take my comments as a slight against Engarde. You never want to discover that your software isn't doing what you expect it to do 4/5 into a tournament.)

Array Thank you all! Thanks to all that replied to my plea for help. I downloaded a copy of Enguard ad I am now doing a few dry runs to get aquainted with it. Nice program once I got past the occasional French references.
I still miss the ease of setting up a competition in Point Control, but at least it seems easier to edit an ongoing competition in this program (we've often had people want to join an already started competition for our club meets, and ading them into the old Point Control program caused some headaches...)
