| 2008 Wall Calendar Is FN putting one out this year? If not, anyone know where I can get one with groovy monthly fencing pictures on it? Short of a homebuilt?

| The 2008 Fencing Calendar is available for pre-order. We're currently waiting on Rene Roch to sign off on the photos that will go into the calendar and then we just have to drop those into the layout and print.

| *Fencergrl puts down her camera and stops taking pictures of herself for her new "Fencergrl Wall Calendar" * So much for my big money making opportunity! Sigh....

| However; I don't think the "Fencergrls of the NRA" calendar has gone to print yet, so there's probably still a niche there to fill!

| You need R.R.'s permission to print a calender?

| A reasonable question, and here's the answer: The calendar is the official FIE calendar. As the official photographer for the FIE, we (FencingPhotos) produce it with the FIE major event dates/locations, photos I've taken at various events over the last year or so, and as you may have seen in the past, a short letter from the FIE president.
For those of you interested, I boil-down the selection from about 20,000 shots to 200. Then I share those with various colleagues, fencers, friends, vendors, coaches, etc. etc. to get it down to about 30 or so. Each year I try different ways of garnering opinions. This year we hosted a "calendar night" at Salle Auriol Seattle where I invited fencers there to help me rank images (thanks, SAS!).
The resulting shots get submitted to the FIE, and Rene Roch gives me his opinions. Because it is the "official" FIE calendar and a set of them gets sent to each FIE member federation worldwide, there can be various diplomatic considerations of which I'm not always aware.
I hope everyone likes this year's calendar, which includes images back to Torino up to and including St. Petersburg plus numerous grand prix events and the Pan Am Games. It should be ready in two to three weeks.
Thanks
Serge

So all photos will include visor masks and are currently undergoing video review. |

| Update: We're now in production with the new calendar, and it will go to print later this week. It ships about 10 days after that. |
