| Nicholas, Prince of Marsteria, was the first to reach the entrance of the cave. He was overwhelmed with what he saw. Two-dozen Muu warriors had indeed ambushed the dozen Arconian Royal Guards, but the tide had been turned by four other Arconians Nicholas had never seen before. He stood there for a moment transfixed at the scene, wondering where to jump in.
The rest of the group joined him at the entrance. Queen Zelda said, "Don’t just stand there, Nicholas! We have- ARCON!"
One of the Arconians that Nicholas didn’t recognize turned at the sound of his name. This momentary lapse of focus gave the Muu warrior he was fighting the upper hand and his sword grazed Arcon’s right arm. As Queen Zelda gasped in horror Nicholas jumped over a small bush and came crashing into the Muuvian, sending him tumbling down the side of Mount Spire. "Are you all right?" he asked.
"Yes,” smiled King Arcon, examining the small wound on his upper arm. "Thank you for your help. By the way, I’m King Arcon."
"Then I am at you service, sir. I am Prince Nicholas of Marsteria. I am to marry Willow as I am the father of her child." King Arcon gave him a blank stare. Nicholas shrugged. "Long story."
As another Muu warrior approached them, swinging his sword furiously, King Arcon asked, "Is Lady Moon and Prince Meekal all right?"
"Yes, sir," confirmed Nicholas, his sword, clashing against the Muu warrior’s sword.
Willow smiled when she saw Nicholas fighting alongside King Arcon. It gave her a warm feeling, although it could have been morning sickness. She noticed Moon had picked up a discarded sword and was currently sparring with another Muu warrior. This made her nervous. She was charged with keeping her princess safe. Her thoughts went out to bird flying overhead and the bird dove down and pecked at the Muuvian's helmet, confusing him for a moment, giving Moon the chance to knock the sword out of his hand.
"Well done," said Oddeldoodle who had joined her. "Your skills are coming along nicely."
"I’m nowhere as good as you," Willow complimented.
"Of course not," agreed Oddeldoodle, "but then I’m much, much, much older than you."
Queen Zelda had her hands full also. Two Muu warriors had her fighting for her life. A large rock smacked one of the Muuvians on the side of his head, knocking him out. The other one got a rock in the chest, causing him to lose his balance while avoiding a thrust from Zelda. He went tumbling down Mount Spire. She looked over to where the rocks had come. Meekal the Daft and Kliff Fauldergraft smiled back at her.
The Battle of Mount Spire (As it came to be known in Lady Moon of the Quill’s up-coming epic.) was over soon after that. The surviving Muu warriors retreated and the Arconians cheered in celebration. Queen Zelda hugged King Arcon. Nicholas kissed Willow. Meekal petted Rufus.
Once all the celebration had died down and all the wounds had been dressed, King Arcon stood and thanked everyone for their loyalty and for the sacrifices they had made. He ended with, "Now let’s go home and throw ourselves one hell of a royal ball!"
