Array I use black acrylic paint (Toyama, the ones you'd use to paint on model cars or something). Works so far, they stick pretty well, considering it's the second week. Those newbies, they somehow whack you hard in the face, and your mask becomes shiny! Maybe I should do the stenciling thing too, put on text saying 'DON'T HIT MY MASK' I am a foilist. I'm so good, I can make an onion cry. -

I had an FIE sabre mask lamé bib redone by Fencerbill. I took it to weapons inspection at the next NAC I entered and had Dan Dechaine tell me that the rebuild meant it was no longer FIE. ( Actually he said it was better than the original now, but still no longer FIE. )
So if replacing lamé material voids certification, why wouldn't replacing another sort of covering? so is that mean repainting you FIE mask is a big no no no. which mean my scrach up LP exchange mask is no hope of getting good looking again :cry.
can i send it to leon paul and have them do the repaint? would that be ok and not screw up the FIE certification. Foil is the form
Epee is the attitude
Saber is the speed

Array If you use a black marker or sharpie, just remember to do it way before the competition.
In my younger years, in order to make sure my mask past inspection, i covered the rust on my mask with a black permanent marker, right before i gave it to the armorer.
I later could not stop puking into a trashcan during my pools. Those fumes were really really bad. Everyone relax cause I got it.... -

I am not an expert on the subject, certainly not about foil, and my post was not intended as an authoritative statement. In fact I suspect that you probably CAN repaint your FIE mask mesh, my experience with lamé bib changes to the contrary notwithstanding...
I suggest that you act on the advice of one of the armourers here rather than on mine. Much though it galls me to say that.
PS Please make a stab at actual typing rather than textspeak... Similar Threads -
