Twin Arms Fencing Twin Arms produces Italian foil conversion pieces, which allow a French blade to be mounted in an Italian manner. They also offer pommels and lovely wood grips. http://www.twinarmsfencing.com/
I have been rather surprised by the recent proliferation of "Italian grip" related threads around here... I didn't realize anyone was that interested.
So I hope this will be of some interest as well.
Before you dismiss this as just another silly classical fencing thing, this vendor offers a service that may have a broader appeal: "parkerization". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parkerizing
As far as I've been able to find, Twin Arms is the only place you can get your carbon steel sword parts "parkerized" (Please do correct me if I'm wrong) -

Array Most gun shops can parkerize whatever you want pretty easily, or you can do it yourself with a kit.
I didn't see a price for parkerizing, but given the other prices, I'm going to assume my two suggestions are much more economical. -

About the price: yes the cost of a single foil seems a bit steep, but the target market here is primarily classical fencers who - for the most part - do not care about electric competition. They only need one weapon, and if ya get decent parts they'll last forever. And replacing the blade every few years is not terribly expensive.
I'm considering saving my pennies and getting electric Italian foils, lame', et c but that does start to add up... Similar Threads -
