| That's a great idea, Jack. The only problem is that, as a "group," fencing coaches will be difficult to insure for many reasons. One reason is that they are spread out across the country. Insurance is an incredibly complex proposition because it's regulated by the states individually, rather than federally. Yes, the insurance industry would LOVE to be regulated by the federal govt rather than each individual state, but the states make a lot of money charging enormous fees to each insurer who wants to be able to sell their insurance to residents.
Some companies offer health care to employees who are spread thinly around the country (such as sales reps, technical repair people, etc.). Even though the insurance which is being offered MAY not have many providers in the area of each employee, the employee can at least GET insurance because the deal is cut by the EMPLOYER in the employer's home state.
Doing a high-deductable policy with a health savings account as a supplement will make more sense for most coaches.
PM me if you have other questions...I MAY be able to point you in the right direction in Massachusetts. That is, unless someone else posts here who knows more than I do. |
