| Hmm..
Well,
I'm in Chicago's Northwest Suburbs and haven't ever heard of Danville.
Sorry.
Aside from Chicago I would say fencing is pretty sparce in IL.

| The Illinois Division USFA web-site lists several clubs in Illinois: http://www.il-usfa.com/FencingClubsi...5/Default.aspx
Perhaps, with a little research, you can find one close to Danville.

| The closest club would likely be The Point Fencing Club in Champaign, IL http://www.thepointfencingclub.com/main.html
It's a good club, with foil being their strongest weapon. It is in a college town, so I am not sure how many fencers will be around during the week.
They have open fencing on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. The strongest days are Mondays and Fridays.
They have a $10 floor fee, $5 for college students.
The club is just off of the University of Illinois campus
500 N. Walnut
Champaign, IL 61820

It's about a 1/2 an hour drive or so.

| I fence at The Point Fencing Club in Champaign, but as I'm in college (as is a large bulk of our fencer population, being on the U of I team) I know a lot of us will be gone for that week of Thanksgiving. However, we still have a good-sized local fencer population that I'm sure will still be going on the days the club is open.
The club will be closed from the 22nd through the 24th, but Mondays and Wednesdays usually have a decent turnout. Tuesdays are a bit hit-or-miss, but if you can make any of those days I can guess there'll at least be a few people to fence with.
Hope that helped! |

| That is going to be great. It is 45 minutes west of Danville.
Is there epee? I know that here in Atlanta we have some all saber and all epee clubs. If I come will there be epee? Also, I don't know exactly how much gear I will have because I am driving up but if I am missing something do you guys have gear that I can use?

| Although pretty nearly everyone in our club fences foil, we have a dedicated epee presence as well, so no worries. (We also have a few sabreurs here and there, but they've been harder to come by.)
There are a few local club members who fence epee almost exclusively (they only fence foil if they're absolutely forced to, haha) and if you'd like I can double check as to who might be coming in next week, just to make sure we have some epeeists there on those days.
There is gear available that the club owns, we use it largely for the beginning fencing classes, but it can be used by visiting fencers who don't have their own gear as well--I'm pretty sure that's part of what's covered by the floor fee, but just double check when you get there. If you could bring your own weapon at least, that would probably be best--just because I can't guarantee our club epees are any good, so I wouldn't take any chances--but we've got plenty of other gear.
