| I used to wear bandanas all the time to keep my hair out of my eyes because it was too short to put into a pony-tail.
At one tournament I had to wear a pink camo print bandana because I couldn't find any of my other ones. I didn't care how stupid it looked as long as I could see!

| The following items listed are a few more ways to get tagged a "Fencing Dork".
1. Calling your mask a helmet.
2. Using the D-ring on your jacket or lame as a handy place to hold your sword.
3. Calling your weapon a sword.
4. Asking people to fight instead of fence. |

edit: It's not the person or a "colored" mask that bothers me. Just the "smiley face." | This one isn't smiling exactly: http://www.oxfordfencing.com/img/Pao...anoli.mask.jpg
The reason I don't find it dorky is that it was IMO a great idea and a kick in the proverbial ant hill. It got R. Roch's panties in a bunch. It was also the first time most people had seen such a painted mask. Created a roar in the audience, as Milanoli, an Italian, was wearing it at a world championship hosted in France (both nations traditionally compete very aggressively against each other - call it a fencing rivalry).
It was brash, loud and obnoxious, for sure. But I don't think it was dorky.
But yeah, a smiley face is pretty dorky.

Ewwww. I don't think I've seen enough designs on masks to note a trend toward them, but we can hope that the trend does not catch on or we might end up here.

| Jeepers, what kind of knot are you seeing people tying??? Just a loose square knot a couple of inches from the ends is all that's needed. Loose so it doesn't kink up anything, not right at the ends so it doesn't put any pressure on the plugs, and voila! |

I would assume any sport that requires a mask would have players wearing bandanas.
I wear one, and I don't care what anyone says.
