Array Buckie Leach not in USFA hall of fame? So I was editing some article on Wikipedia the other day, and I realized there was no entry on Buckie Leach there. So I decided to add one.
In my quest to find facts to enter there, I went to the USFA hall of fame website, and realized that Buckie wasn't on the list?!
Does anyone know what's going on there? Has Buckie pissed people off at the USFA or something? The Media page on the USFA website says he was the first coach of a US world champion. That sounds big enough to warrant admission, don't you think? - Epee is the Louis Vuitton bag of fencing: only the best can get it, and the rest of the masses must content themselves with cheap knockoffs (sabre, foil)

Array I think they would like to have someone near out to pasture before hall of faming the person. He's too active at the moment to be halled. Sort of like halling A-Rod at the moment. -

Array Maybe its because he throws foils at people. "I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. And from this side only! The flight of a half-man, half-bird. Dinosaurs nuzzling their young in pastures where strip malls should be. Cookies on dowels. All those moment, lost in time. Gone, like eggs off a hooker's stomach. Time to die" -Phil Ken Sebben -

Array I think the difference is that Marx is in there first for this athletic achievements, and he has retired from active fencing. Leach would be in for coaching and he hasn't retired from active coaching.
Sort of why players are in other hall of fames as players and coaches, so they are in twice, because it's honoring excellence different careers -

Array Nat Goodhartz was entered into the Hall of Fame this past July. Ed Korfanty has been elected for entrance next July.
I'd imagine that Buckie will be proposed (and likely elected) in the next short while.
Sending nominations to the committee (chaired by Andy Shaw) is a good step if/when one notices a glaring omission.

Maybe Bucky once stepped on Andy's foot. -

Array You know, that USFA media website is so out of date, its disgusting. I thought we were paying a marketing group 100K a year to handle marketing for us. And we can't even have up to date info about the CURRENT athletes on our roster? That's it, I'm done with the discussion forums on F.net. It's had its uses, but the ideologues, ranters, and "experts" have drowned too many of the conversations. I'm changing my password to something random and never logging in again. -

Array The "Latest News" (as they label it) on the MS Team is from 19 Aug. 2004. Better to have nothing called latest news if it's not new news and not latest... Similar Threads -
