| Huddle, use of video I'm organizing things so that my épée training group can benefit more from the video we've been shooting. Saw this and wished ever so much I could have an evaluation copy. Does anyone know of other software that allows a user to write (using MS Ink) over a video? |

| I don't know if it allows you to write over the video, but Dartfish ( http://www.dartfish.com/en/index.htm) is being used by some of the coaches in the USFA.

| Measurement in Motion Measurement in Motion. It let's you identify points. Draw lines, track said points. It's a reasonably inexpensive video analysis tool. I've used it as part of my curriculum to teach students about sport research.
Find it at: http://www.learn.motion.com/products...ent/index.html
There are others on the market too, but I haven't researched them in a while.

| Ed Korfanty, of Oregon Fencing Alliance, is the person to talk to regarding use of Dartfish.
I have a few ideas involving video analysis (in fencing specifically, but in a more general sporting context as well), but they'll have to wait until after February until I'm able to work on them. Day job + coaching = not enough time for pet projects.

| Helmet Cam? Darius, be sure to get back in touch with me once you have time. Until then, does anyone have any experience using a helmet cam for training? I seem to remember there was a film of a couple of épéeists at the INSEP shot with one. |

| Video certainly has it's place. It can be very good to catch up or get some good pointers for any fencer.
There are limits. Too much emphasis on video can just throw a fencer off. They need to fence their game. You can't process every one else's game and know what you are doing.
A good fencer should be watching the fencing going on in competitions and planning accordingly.
Nothing exceeds like excess.

| Hi Mo,
I'm working out the proper place of video for myself, am really just exploring the technical hurdles of making a proper inclusion of same within a technical program. Sounds like you have more deeper opinions about the subject. I'd be fascinated to hear them.
(I owe you a response to the very generous message you wrote to me earlier; I'm dreadfully behind in every aspect of my life at the moment...)
Cheers,
