Just wear your foil lame, and tell the referee that the sleeves are made from a space-age new transparent material.

The best thing is, the sleeves are guaranteed not to oxidize or corrode in any way, over the life of the garment. The level of electrical resistance will never change, even after years of regular use!

That would maybe work. You could replace it in pieces and save money, and I bet a metal zipper would be more resilient to the famous sabre armpit dead spots, even if it would be less comfortable.

Then again, I'm not a sabre fencer.
