    Actually, I don't see anything in the rules specifying that it has to fit on a single line on the lame, so I think you could do something like:

    REALLYREALLYLONG
    NAMECHTSMEIER

    (it was just too tempting an example if you're reading this, Keith ).

    There's a guy from CalTech who has such a long name, it's in two lines down his rear leg.

    Name's Randy Paffenroth. Leg looks like this:

    Nice guy, and he's as tall as his name is long!

    There's another fencer, Dawn Dinwiddie-Cobb, in our division. The back of her old jacket says (barely)

    DINWIDDIE-
    COBB

    But her foil lame says D-COBB

    She just bought a new jacket from me on Saturday and is just gonna put COBB on the back.
