The Princess Bride turns 20!

Just got a call from my wife telling me that a new "anniversary” edition of The Princess Bride is due to be released this month!

20 years?!?!? How did THAT happen???

And here's a shamless plug for my favorite fencing movie:

http://www.foxstore.com/detail?item=4818

All Hail 20th Century FOX!!!

Wow, I remember seeing that movie in the theater. Feeling a little old here.

Inconceivable!

I wonder what the art of fencing featurette will actually be like. Will have to check it out when it hits the street.

I hadn't even noticed that part of the special features... I wonder if they got Bonneti, Cappo Ferro or Agrippa to do the intro?

You can conceive (formulate) an idea. "Inconceivable" would be similar to saying "unthinkable".

On the other hand ... I have this strange idea of telling "accident" children that they were inconceivable, to have them go home and ask their parents what it means.

Sigh... Your homework tonight is to either watch the movie again or google the Inconceivable + Princess Bride quotes.

While OROD is merely a foilist and not capable of much wit, most fans of the movie should have got his comment.

I picked up the DVD at lunch. I wonder if I can watch the fencing segment at work without getting caught?

Will let you know.

Looks like it runs about 7 or 8 minutes. A "sword master" named robert goodwin does the talking. Subjects include weapons and dueling in ye olden times. Overall, it looked to be more about theatrical swordplay.

I kept the volume low, being at work, so dont' have much more to say. They did show a picture of an actual fencer - Bob Anderson, I believe, who seems to have worked on the movie.

Guess I'll give it a good viewing later, at home.

Cheers!
