Array Lame's Yes, I am aware that if I perform a search, I can find other threads on this topic. I have in fact, and they have only partially answered my question. Therefore I will post this anyway.
I am looking to buy a new lame'. The one I have is perfectly fine other than the fact that the coarse threads tear at the bib of my mask and wear down the armpits of my jacket. I have a TCA Stainless.
I am looking for a lame' that is just as durable, but doesn't tear at your clothes. How is Uhlmann on that? The other threads suggested a lame' by Infinity, or something like that. Has anyone worn the TCA stretch lame'? Just give me your thoughts. ... without remorse for the past, confident in the present, and full of hope for the future, [d'artagnan] went to bed and slept the sleep of the brave.

I have the Triplette Ultralight and while I don't fence much foil any more, I used it for about 2 1/2 years 2-3 times a week, and it has held up well. I sweat a lot, and my sweat's pretty corrosive (insert personality joke here), but it doesn't have any dead spots that I can find.
It's very cool, light and comfortable.
A couple of kids who used to fence sabre at our club have the Infinity lamé. Very nice.
Neither have the abrasive properties of Uhlmanns or the Triplette inox lamés.

Array Glad you told me that the Uhlmann's have the same abbrasion problems as Triplette's Inox.
Who sells infinity lame's?
No reason to insert personality joke from me, I sweat very heavily as well.
I think that I will consider one of TCA's lame's. I've known other people who have used the ultralights that have lasted quite a while. Plus, that Inox is pretty heavy and does a good job keeping all that heat in your body. That is the last thing I need when I get overheated easily anyway. ... without remorse for the past, confident in the present, and full of hope for the future, [d'artagnan] went to bed and slept the sleep of the brave.

Array I think BG carries the Infinity lame, but you can order them from the company http://www.infinityelectronics.com/products.html
I personally don't own one, but I had my sabre bib rebuilt with the material several years ago and it's holding up fine. If the pen is mightier than the sword, the writer must have a heck of a reach!! -

Array I didn't see the infinity lame' on BG's site, just the BG, France Lames, Uhlmann and Allstar lame'.
I checked the site out, it does look to be a nice one. ... without remorse for the past, confident in the present, and full of hope for the future, [d'artagnan] went to bed and slept the sleep of the brave.

BG doesn't list the Infinity, but if you call and ask they'll have it available (same price as if you get it direct).
The one weakness of the Infinity lame is that the open-mesh fabric is vulnerable to getting snagged and ripped, as well as starting to pull apart at the seams. The accumulation of such wear and tear is the limiting factor for lifespan. While the Triplette lames aren't as prone to snagging due to the much tighter weave, the relative brittleness of the fabric means that is will also fray apart at the seams and eventually develop hole with use.
The metallized spandex panel in the Triplette strectch lames is particularly prone to snagging.
I'm not convinced that either the Infinity or Triplette lames offer a significant durability advantage over a well-cared-for stainless lame for these reasons, although they will definitely last you longer if you insist on leaving your lame wadded up in your bag between uses and never washing it.

I still like the German lames (Allstar for you skinny weasels, Uhlmann for us fat guys). I till firmly believe that its the care that maes the lame though.
I was able to get 10 yars out of my Uhlmann foil lame just by taking it right in the shower with me after practice/competition.
As for the Infinity, it's the best lame in the heat. I would trade seam stitching against heat exhaustion every time.

Thanks for the disturbing image, Justin. You'll be getting a bill from my therapist in the mail. -

Array I was, and still am looking for a new lame, and I was told that the Infinity lames tare at the seems.. Although they can be repaird rather easily.. its just the fact that they do come apart rather easily. (at the seems anyways.) but if i was going to spend the money, or if I had the money, i think i'd buy one anyways. reason being that sure you can repair it.. so *IF* it breaks somewhat easy fix.
But I think that this time around I will most likely get the Ulmann lame.. But I really would like something that Breaths a little more..
