| Different Colored Mask Mesh - Vision Problems I was just wondering if anyone who has different colored mesh on their mask has problems or notices a different in how easy it is to see out of, compared to the normal black.
In particular, white.

| As I understand it, the mesh is only coloured differently on the outside - on the inside, it's still painted black. So there really shouldn't be any problems with light glare.*
*Unless, like me, you're silly enough to firstly paint the mask yourself, and secondly, paint the inside mesh too. The latter was corrected quickly, the former will probably last as long as the mask does - maybe another 6 months or so. |

| My husband has two masks*, one with white mesh and one with black, so I just asked him for his opinion. Both came from their respective vendors that way and both meshes are the same color inside and out. He says in bright light conditions, the black mesh is easier to see through and in dimmer-than-average-fencing-conditions, the white mesh is a bit easier.
*Okay, three, but the shiny silver saber mask is a whole other irrelevanttothetopicathand conversation. |

| I have a white mask and it's painted black or grey inside so it's not too bad. When I'm facing into the sun, it's hard to do my lesson, but I think it was the same problem in my old black mask. |

In particular, white. | I was wondering the same thing before I got my current mask.
I've blue Allstar mask and as others have said the mesh is black on the inside, so no difference from a regular black mask.
Other brands may be differently done, though I doubt it -- especially for white masks.

In particular, white. | My first involvement with fencing was 40 years ago in college. There, ALL the masks were white on the outside and black on the inside.
Anything other than black on the inside just doesn't make any sense!
I would suggest any vendor who has a lighter color inside is just cutting manufacturing cost corners at the expense of their customer's ability to see out through the mask. |

| I have a pretty blue Leon Paul mask, and it's black in the inside. So, the only time I see blue is when the outside coating has been chipped off after a particulary hard hit to the face and is then poking through the mesh. I just rub that off and it's fine. But this would happen whether it was colored or not. When I first started using it I didn't notice any difference, but I bet it took some getting used to on the part of my clubmates. Hehehe!
P.S.- Zilverzmurfen, woot woot for blue masks!

| Even my custom paint job does not inhibit vision.
